AI Asset Licensing

The legal and commercial terms defining how a buyer may use, redistribute, or build with an AI asset.

Also known as: data licensing, AI license, usage rights

AI asset licensing defines the rights a buyer receives when acquiring an AI asset. The license specifies permitted uses (commercial production, research, fine-tuning), prohibited uses (resale, sublicensing, competing products), scope (number of seats, deployments, or API calls), and duration (perpetual, subscription, term-limited).

Licensing clarity is one of the most important commercial signals in an AI asset listing. Buyers -- particularly enterprise buyers -- will not acquire datasets, models, or workflows without explicit license terms. Well-documented licensing increases both marketability and transaction speed.
